How do I turn the blocker on?
Open Protection and work down the list. Each item that is still off shows what it needs.
Android will ask you to grant permission for some of them. That is normal and it is how the blocker is able to see a page before it loads.
- Accessibility access lets the app close a blocked page. Without it, nothing is blocked.
- The content filter runs on your phone as a local VPN. Nothing you browse leaves your device.
- App blocker stops chosen apps from opening.
Grant them in order and the shield on Home turns solid once you are actually protected.
The blocker is not blocking anything
Nine times out of ten Android has switched the accessibility permission back off. It does this on its own after an update, after a restart, or when battery saving is aggressive.
Open Protection and check whether accessibility access is still granted. If it is off, turn it back on.
If it keeps switching off by itself, find Christian Blocker in your phone's battery settings and set it to Unrestricted. Battery optimisation is the usual culprit.
Also worth knowing: a browser in private or incognito mode, or a browser the app has not been given permission for, can slip past. Browser guard covers the ones it knows about.
If that does not settle it, this is one to send to us — write to hello@christianadultblocker.com or write to our inbox, because the answer depends on your own account.
Can I stop myself uninstalling the app?
Yes. Strict mode makes the app much harder to remove in a weak moment, which is the moment it matters.
It uses device administrator access, so uninstalling asks for your password first.
Be honest with yourself before you turn it on. It is meant to be inconvenient. That is the whole point of it.
Partner lock goes further: someone you trust holds the code, and you cannot switch protection off without them.
How do I block a specific app?
Open App blocker and pick the apps you want closed when you try to open them.
Most men here block the ones that are a side door rather than the front door: a social app with an endless feed, or a browser they forgot they had.
You can change the list whenever you like, unless partner lock is on.
Can I change what the block screen says?
Yes. You can set your own words, or a verse, on the screen that appears when something is blocked.
Write it for the version of you who will be reading it at two in the morning, not the version reading it now.
What is partner lock?
Partner lock hands the key to someone else. You choose a person you trust, they set a code, and from then on your protection settings cannot be weakened without them.
They do not see your browsing, your journal, or anything you write. They hold a code, nothing more.
It is the strongest thing in the app, and it works because it takes the decision out of your hands at the moment you are least able to make it.
These answers are in the app too
Settings → Help has all of them, works offline, and does not leave a browser tab behind. Several of them open the exact screen being described.
